WACO, TX — Lake Air Montessori Magnet School will temporarily shift to online learning for the second time this month due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.

Principal Stephanie Tankersley sent a letter to families and employees of the change Tuesday evening.

The campus will close for in-person instruction beginning Wednesday, November 18. The campus plans to reopen on November 30 following Thanksgiving break.

Tankersley says two more people, who have been on campus, have tested positive for COVID-19. School officials are in the process of notifying families and employees who may have been in close contact with a positive case. Those students and employees will be instructed to stay home for 14 days from their last contact.

More than 20 employees and nearly 100 in-person students are currently in quarantine following close contact or a positive diagnosis.

This is the second time this month the school has been forced to switch to all online learning. The school closed on Wednesday, November 5 and reopened for in-person instruction on November 12.
