BELLMEAD, TX — La Vega ISD said that the high school is having an early release on Friday, according to a message sent to parents.

The district said attendance was so low on Thursday that they decided to release early.

This comes a day after threats surfaced on social media. In the threats, the person said that they are responsible for the death of 17-year-old Aqurius McPhaul, and that La Vega High School was in danger.

Many parents voiced concern, and the district said there will be increased security and law enforcement at the school Thursday.

La Vega High School Football will be playing in the playoffs in the Dallas area Friday night.
