WACO, TX — Beginning on Saturday, TxDOT will begin removing the old southbound off-ramp from I-35 southbound to the 4th and 5th Street area.
Construction is set to start at 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday.
During the work, all lanes under University Parks Dr. will be closed. Drivers coming from the east will need to go north to cross at MLK Blvd. Drivers from the west will need to go to south to 18th Street to cross.
One lane on the southbound access road will be open during this portion of the work to provide a buffer zone between the demolition and the traffic in that area. The left and center lanes will be closed.
Law enforcement officers will be stationed at University Parks Dr. to help keep traffic moving in the proper directions during the closure.
Demolition of the ramp will continue Sunday night at 10 p.m. and ending at 6 a.m. Monday morning. Then, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night under the expected completion date on Saturday.
This work is planned weather permitting.
Drivers are encouraged to plan additional time to get to planned locations and to obey all posted signs for closures and detours.
