MCLENNAN COUNTY, TX — The Hewitt Police Department is offering a way for you to keep your home safe during the summer. The department's "While you're away" program offers a service where the police will do a daily drive-by of your home, to ensure nothing is amiss. Applying for the program is as easy as going to the department's website and filling out their quick application which includes questions about the state of your house, who might have access and if there are any previously damaged parts of it. Once you've filled out the application, all you have to do is send it over by email or fax, and the police department will protect your home for up to 14 days.
