WACO, TX — A random act of kindness was captured in the H-E-B parking lot along Valley Mills on Wednesday.

While severe storms were passing through Waco, an H-E-B employee took the time to make sure an elderly woman made it to her car safely.

Jordan Stanford Mechell snapped a photo of the sweet gesture and shared it on Facebook.

"This is why H-E-B is the best... this was right in the middle of the lightning filled monsoon today. This awesome employee helped this elderly woman until she was safely inside her car," the post said.

The post said they weren't sure who the employee was, but would love for him to get some recognition from the manager.

Central Texas News Now was able to find the employee with the help of a family friend.

The employee's name is 19-year-old Juan Frias, who has been working at H-E-B for the last year.

Frias said they were instructed to keep people inside the store while they waited out the storm.

Frias said the elderly woman and her daughter had a family emergency and needed to get out right away.

He didn't think twice before picking up an umbrella.

"I mean, it's just the right thing to do, it's just something so simple," Frias said.

Frias said his mother works in a retirement home, so he has a special place in his heart for the elderly.

"I used to visit a lot," Frias said.

He added that he's pretty shy, making all this attention something to get used to.

"I'm a very quiet guy, so having my name there is kind of a new," Frias said.

Frias hopes his kind gesture caught on camera inspires others to help out a neighbor.

"If you see something, just do a random act of kindness, just do it," Frias said. "It won't take any time out of your day. Pass it forward."
