WACO, TX — A local catering business is taking the time to give thanks to a special group of people who have been a big help for the community.

Fuel UP Waco is donating leftovers from their prepared meals to Central Texas first responders and teachers.

The catering service has been serving meals to first responders since the beginning. They say they are happy to lend a helping hand in this trying time.

"It's so important right now to really give back to those who give to us," said Fuel UP founder, owner and CEO Dominique Newman. "Well people can't leave. They can't go get food. These first responders are working crazy shifts, and hospital workers and they don't have a lot of options right now."

Fuel UP delivers meals to area schools, hospitals police and fire departments.

Since the start of the pandemic, they've served between 30 and 100 meals every week.
