WACO, TX — The free tax service offered by Waco ISD is coming to an end Saturday.
The district said that last minute filers would be able get help with their tax returns from Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, a student run program at University High School.
The program allows students, who have successfully completed the IRS' certification process, to assist local families in filing their taxes.
The program at University High School is the largest student-run VITA program in the U.S.
The program has prepared more than 24,000 tax returns in its 15 years and has resulted in over $41.5 million in refunds.
The deadline for taxes is on Monday, April 15.
