WACO, TX — On Tuesday night, a program that provides pregnancy and parenting support to first-time mothers honored six of them.
The Nurse Family Partnership, a free community healthcare program of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center- Hillcrest, hosted a banquet during which six first-time mothers received mother of the year awards.
As part of the program, nurses visit first-time moms and give them information about prenatal care, parenting skills and future goals.
The nurses who are part of NFP nominated six women for the mother of the year award, including Jennifer Frazier.
Before the banquet on Tuesday, she said her pregnancy would have been more difficult without the support of the program.
"It would've been a lot more stressful. There would've been more sleepless nights. NFP has been very good at instilling confidence in me in my parenting journey," Frazier said.
Other five women also women the mother of the year award.

The program, which has the goal of improving pregnancy outcomes and child and health development has been in existence for three years.
