Fifth COVID-19 patient discharged from Ascension Providence

WACO, TX — Ascension Providence says they discharged their fifth COVID-19 patient on April 25.

The Ascension Providence staff joined together in celebration when patient David Guel was discharged.

45-year-old Guel is the fifth COVID-19 patient discharged from Ascension Providence.

Designated "Code Sunshine" nurses, doctors, and support staff lined the halls to cheer as 'Walking on Sunshine" played during his discharge.

Guel was admitted on March 25 and spent 17 days on a ventilator, according to the hospital.

"Ascension Providence is grateful to be part of a generous community and proud of the incredible work being done by our caregivers and support teams," the statement said.
