WACO, TX — The director of the Humane Society of Central Texas announced his resignation Tuesday morning.
Don Bland is resigning from his position with the Humane Society of Central Texas to become the Chief of Animal Services for the largest no-kill city in the nation, in Austin.
"I’m proud to have been a part of the community that worked together to get the City of Waco Animal Shelter to No-Kill Status, from the dismal 28% that it was all those years ago," Bland said.
Bland has been with the Humane Society for the past seven and a half years.
He said he wanted to thank the people who has supported him and the organization in Waco since 2012.
