City of Waco to close Cameron Park Zoo, certain city facilities due to coronavirus

WACO, TX — The City of Waco has chosen to close certain city facilities due to the coronavirus.

The City announced while there is no ocnfirmed positive case of COVID-19 within Mcennan County at this time, the City of Waco is being proactive in trying to limit the community spread of the virus.

The closure will include:

  • City of Waco Public Libraries
  • Cameron Park Zoo
  • City of Waco Community Centers
  • City of Waco Senior Centers
  • Waco Convention Center & Visitors' Bureau
  • Texas Rangers Hall of Fame

The closures will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday, march 14, and last through at least midnight on March 29.

The City says city operations will continue a normal. Increased cleaning schedules will be implemented.

The City and Waco McLennan County Public Health strongly recommend canceling, rescheduling, or not attending events with more than 250 people. Organizations that serve high-risk populations are also urged to cancel gatherings of more than 10 people.
