WACO, TX — There's a growing effort to get apartment complexes in Waco to start recycling.

The Cobb's Recycling Center in Waco takes care of just about all forms of recycling.

"We accept recycling from anyone from anywhere," said Anna Dunbar, a Solid Waste administrator.

She said when it comes to getting into a habit of recycling, start small.

"Start with one thing. Why don't you just do water bottles and paper?"

She's been pushing to get apartment complexes to start recycling. The majority of apartment complexes in Waco do not recycle, even though she says recycling services are no extra charge.

Cassie Nataro chose to live at Ursa Apartments because they're one of the few complexes that do recycle.

"I think it's just so important to do, and I don't like creating a lot of trash," said Nataro.

In order for apartment complexes to be recycling-friendly, they need to have enough room from for an extra dumpster exclusively for recycling, as well as hire a trash pick-up company that is willing to take the extra load.

Pick-up companies collect so much trash that the Waco landfill is almost at capacity, forcing the City to find more space and fueling the urgency on recycling efforts.

If you'd like to recycle but your apartment complex doesn't offer the service, you can always pack up your recyclables and drop them off at the Cobb's Recycling Center in Waco.
