WACO, TX — The City of Waco celebrated the boost in tourism with an open house for National Travel and Tourism week Tuesday afternoon.
More and more people are visiting Waco. According to the Waco Convention Center and Visitor's Bureau, 2.6 billion people visited Waco attractions last year, generating $56 million in tax revenue.
The organization gave thanks and recognition to local businesses and attractions who show the hospitality of Waco.
"We want to shed light on the hospitality industry as a career path and a way to have a great living and earn a great wage and follow this career in the hospitality," said Todd Bertka, the Director of Waco Convention Center Visitor's Bureau.
Visitors will have the opportunity to join in on different welcome events through the week at the convention center and select hotels.
