MCLENNAN COUNTY, TX — Caritas Waco is taking steps to help low-income communities beat the heat this summer. Caritas' "Fan Club" purchases and donates fans to families who need them.

For the almost 30% of our community who live in poverty, living in a home without air conditioning or wondering how to pay higher utility bills while stretching limited income to keep food on the table make summertime extremely difficult." Caritas said in a press release. The "Fan Club" is encouraging people to donate to their local community, so they can help people in need.

A donation of $20 will cover the cost of a fan. $50 will cover the cost of 125 lbs of food, and $100 will aid a family in danger of losing their water or electric service.

“Caritas clients will be benefitted by the donation, and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you have helped someone deal with an uncomfortable, sometimes dangerous, situation in a very real way," said Buddy Edwards, Executive Director of Caritas.

Donations can be made online at www.caritas-waco.orgby clicking "Donate now" and writing "fan club" in the comments, or by mailing a contribution to Caritas at 300 South 15th Street, Waco, Texas, 76701.
