HEWITT, TX — A 7th grade student was hit by a pickup truck Tuesday afternoon after he ran across Hewitt Drive.
The Hewitt Police Department says the incident happened when school was letting out in the 700 block of Hewitt Drive.
Authorities say the child ran across the street when they were clipped by the truck.
The Midway Middle School student sustained a cut to the head. He was in stable condition when he was transported to Hillcrest.
The driver did stop after the crash. Police say no charges will be filed.
Midway ISD released the following message to parents:
There are many first responder vehicles attending an accident on Hewitt Drive in which a 7th grader was struck by a car in a turn lane. We do not have a status update on the student to share with you at the moment. Please join us with your prayers and thoughts for our student, his family, and the attending healthcare workers.
