KILLEEN, TX — As the largest school district in the region continues to grow, Killeen ISD school officials say they have some hiring to do.

In total, Killeen ISD has about 3,000 teaching positions and they are currently working to hire about 500 new teachers for the 2019-2020 school year.

Officials shared they are "going far and wide seeking teachers."

The district held a job fair last weekend and sent recruiters to Lafayette, Louisiana, and San Angelo State University on Monday to search for more teachers.

During the new school year, Killeen ISD's student enrollment is expected to surge past past 45,500 students.

"Killeen ISD is by far the largest school district in this entire area and we are growing phenomenally every year. We expect to add another 500 students next year and push it past 46,000," said Terry Abbott, chief communications officer for KISD.

Abbott also shared the school district is in need of bus drivers.

Hiring will continue through the summer. For more information, you can contact the school district.
