KILLEEN, TX — One Killeen resident is asking for the public’s help to give a military veteran a proper burial.

Lewis Holden was a military veteran with more than 20 years of service. However, his family was told that due to the coronavirus he wouldn’t have a proper military burial at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery until the social distancing restrictions were lifted.

Now his family is asking for the public’s help to make his funeral special.

In a Facebook post, his family is asking “for as many people possible to line up on 195 (on the side of the cemetery) and if you have a flag, wave it proudly for his wife and children to see.”

Holden’s service is Monday, April 27, at 2 p.m. and people are encouraged to start lining up in their cars in lieu of physically attending the funeral around 1:30 p.m.

All are invited to attend the service in their cars at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
