National Guard soldier who died in training accident at Fort Hood identified

FORT HOOD, TX — An Indiana Army National Guard Soldier who died from his injuries has been identified.

The Indiana National Guard identified the soldier as Staff Sgt. Andrew Michael St. John, 29. He served as an infantryman with Company B, 1st Battalion, 151st Infantry Regiment, Indiana Army National Guard.

Fort Hood officials said at approximately 10 p.m. on Thursday the soldier died from injuries that were suffered in a tactical vehicle accident in the training area.

The U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center, Fort Rucker in Alabama, will investigate the incident.

The cause of death is under investigation and no further details are available at this time.
