FORT HOOD — Fort Hood soldier Edward Casteel, last seen departing Fort Hood on his own accord, has been arrested in Ruston, Louisiana.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Casteel was arrested on October 6, 2020, and charged with speeding and resisting by flight in Ruston, LA.

According to the affidavit, Casteel was traveling at a speed of 92 mph in a 70 mph zone on I-20. When the officer attempted to pull Casteel over, he refused and kept speeding.

A Ruston Police Department unit pulled in front of Casteel and he then complied with officers.

Casteel was then arrested and admitted to seeing officer's lights and was unable to give a consistent answer as to why he refused to stop.

Casteel's bond is currently set at $3,500.

Pfc. Casteel, 29, was seen departing Fort Hood on his own accord and did not report for duty later that morning as expected, according to a Fort Hood spokesman.
