FORT HOOD, TX — This week’s harsh winter weather caused damage to a number of places across Central Texas, including Fort Hood.

“Our water usage is actually gone from 2 million gallons a day all the way up to as high as 13 million gallons a day,” said Fort Hood Public Works Director Brian Dosa.

Dosa said they found nearly a thousand water leaks at their post.

Several barracks were also impacted by the cold. He said they have several of their crews working to fix their problems.

“Our number one priority is to find all the water leaks from the water breaks from the pipes that busted across Fort Hood,” said Dosa.

Dosa said repairing certain pipes should only take a few hours, but others could take longer.

“We actually have to dig and excavate a hold to expose a pipe that is under the ground and then we can get in there and make the repair,” said Dosa.

Dosa said they plan on finishing repairing the water leaks this week.
