Fort Hood announces post closure for soldiers due to winter weather

FORT HOOD, TX — UPDATE: Fort Hood officials have closed the post on February 11, 2021, due to inclement weather meaning Fort Hood will be closed for the remainder of the day. Only mission essential personnel should report for duty.

Child Youth School Services Child Care Programs and the Fort Hood Child Development Center will open only for mission-essential personnel. Contracted personnel should report in accordance with their program or project manager's instructions.

Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center announced all clinics will be closed and all appointments will be rescheduled.

COVID-19 vaccination sites at Abrams gym will be closed. The respiratory drive-thru clinic for COVID-19 testing will also be closed.

Fort Hood officials have authorized delayed reporting for soldiers and Department of the Army (DA) civilians due to winter weather.

The delayed reporting is for Thursday, February 11.

According to officials, physical training has been canceled. Road guards will not man intersections on post during that time period.

Active duty military personnel will report no earlier than 10 a.m. DA civilians will report no earlier than 9 a.m.

Mission essential personnel must report in accordance with their supervisor's instructions.

Officials say contracted personnel should report in accordance with their program/ project manager's instructions.

The Fort Hood Child Development Center will only provide childcare for mission-essential personnel children. The center will open at 5:30 a.m. All other child development centers and school age care sites will open at 8 a.m.

On-post physical fitness centers will open at 4 p.m.
