Former soldier in custody, no injuries after 'shooting incident' at Fort Hood

FORT HOOD, TX — A former soldier is in custody after he allegedly fired a pistol outdoors in a parking lot at Fort Hood. No one was injured.

On February 6, at approximately 12:50 a.m., a shooting incident occurred at Fort Hood, according to a news release.

No one was injured and the suspect is in Military Police custody.

Initial reports indicate the suspected shooter was a former soldier who was socializing with current soldiers when he fired a pistol outdoors in the parking lot.

The suspect was immediately disarmed and apprehended without further incident, according to Fort Hood.

Fort Hood says this was an isolated, rapidly resolved incident and there is no ongoing threat.

The incident is under investigation by law enforcement officials.

On Saturday, Fort Hood announced they would modify gate access procedures to enhance the security and public safety of the Fort Hood community, effective Feb. 6, 2021 at 6:00PM until further notice.
