COLLEGE STATION, TX — The family of a resident at a College Station assisted living facility has filed a wrongful death lawsuit claiming the facility neglected the resident after becoming inundated with COVID-19 issues.

The lawsuit claims Joe R. Boothe was left alone without proper care, causing him to suffer from infection, dehydration and malnutrition after the Waterford at College Station was inundated with coronavirus issues. Boothe died on April 5.

Several residents at the facility tested positive for COVID-19. The lawsuit claims the Waterford "failed to recognize, recklessly disregarded, or attempted to cover up the severity of the spread of the COVID-19 at the Waterford." The lawsuit says the facility claimed it was a stomach bug going around.
