BRAZOS CO. — The Brazos County Sheriffs Office is investigating an explosion that rocked Bryan-College Station area early Saturday morning.

“Earlier this morning, a tank ruptured on a Chesapeake wellsite in Brazos County, Texas. No fire occurred and no injuries have been reported. The cause of the incident is under investigation," said Gordon Pennoyer of Chesapeake Energy.

Reports of the blast came in just after midnight, the Sheriff's office confirming that no one was injured in the blast on the 9700 block of Sandy Point Road.

Residents in the community say they could feel the blow-up almost 10 miles away.

This is the second time an explosion has occurred at a Chesapeake Energy facility within two weeks, the first occuring in Burleson County. Three people died as a result of that explosion.
