COLLEGE STATION, TX — City Manager of College Station, Bryan Woods, announced he is getting deployed with the Navy Reserve.
"Some of you may know that in addition to getting to serve alongside you in this great organization, I’m an officer in the United States Navy Reserve. Late in 2019, I was informed I’d be recalled to active duty to mobilize with my unit," he said.
In a letter, he said that that the city will continue to strategically transition his duties to the others in the city manager’s office before his departure.
Before coming to College Station, Woods was the assistant city manager for New Braunfels. He started in College Station late 2018.
He said that his deployment is merely the latest example of College Station staff willingly taking on additional responsibilities to allow a coworker to serve.
