An employee at the Brazos Valley Food Bank has tested positive for COVID-19.
The food bank said the employee tested positive late Thursday afternoon. The employee left the facility immediately and is now quarantining.
Because the employee had close contact with all warehouse and volunteer center staff, these staff are now self-isolating and will be tested.
As of now, the BVFB warehouse and volunteer center are closed now through next week a least.
The warehouse and volunteer center will be completely sanitized by a professional service.
The food bank is consulting with the Brazos County Health District and following CDC guidelines. The goal is for everyone to return as soon as possible, acting as safely as possible and to get food to partner agencies and to those who need it.
Those who have signed up to volunteer this week have been notified. Those who are scheduled to volunteer next week will be contacted.
Partner agencies who may have been exposed will hear from the volunteer bank.
A board member has stepped up to help in the warehouse, and two temporary workers have been secured to help Monday through Friday next week.
