KILLEEN, TX — Eyewitnesses tell 25 News about a pair of suspects found with a gun in a Whataburger drive-thru in Killeen.
Around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, Margaret Mark and Angela Corral made an early morning stop at Whataburger.
“There was this car right in front of us that didn’t budge or move. So we kind of waited for a few,” said Corral.
After honking several times, the car didn’t move. The driver and passenger appeared to be unconscious.
“One of the good Samaritans got out of their truck to go see if they were OK and see what was going on. I don’t know if the passenger or the driver brandished a gun,” said Mark.
Eyewitnesses say Killeen police rushed to the scene.
“They did the horns and the megaphones, or whatever you call them. They did not respond, they did not move at all,” said Corral.
The eyewitnesses stayed inside the Whataburger, waiting and watching as the whole thing unfolded. Staff locked the doors to ensure safety for the customers and employees.
“The person who was driving took their foot off the brake to park. The car jumped the curb went forward and that’s when they rushed and they got ‘em. They apprehended them and it went without incident. But they did find a gun on the seat,” said Mark.
Thankfully, there was a peaceful end to the story.
“It is unnerving, you don’t know what you’re walking into anymore. You know, you could go to a church, there’s been mass shootings here, so it is unnerving,” said Mark.
