KILLEEN, TX — Each year, homeowners in Killeen put up their best Christmas light displays and compete for the title of best decorated house.
Homeowners like Reno Isaguirre have taken Christmas decorating to a whole new level.
“We’ve done little things here and there, decided to just put it all out there this year,” Reno said.
When he got a mailer from the city about the annual house decorating contest, he and his family decided to step up their game.
"We've been like here like four years now. I was like this really our first year competing. we are really into Christmas,” Isaguirre said.
Reno said that putting up the Christmas lights was a project that began more than a month ago and took some tricky maneuvering.
The city began accepting entries for the annual contest Dec. 1, and out of all of the entries received, six homes made the final cut.
“We are like oh ours is way better than one or you know, some of them are like really nice,” Cindy said.
But when it comes down to it, they said that they are just happy to be recognized.
“We are super excited. Just for fun to see if we would be noticed,” Cindy said.
Voting for the annual decorations contest is now open through midnight December 17. You can place your vote by clicking here. https://www.killeentexas.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=535
