KILLEEN, TX — A 7-year-old girl was airlifted to the hospital after she was hit by a vehicle Thursday afternoon.
According to Killeen police, the call came in at 5:59 p.m. of an auto-pedestrian accident at Lions Club Park.
They said it happened in the parking lot.
When officers arrived, the 7-year-old girl was awake and breathing. She was hit by a Chevy Malibu.
The driver of the vehicle stayed on the scene. It is unclear if there will be any charges filed at this time.
The victim received a major head injury. Officers said there were obvious external injuries including her head, face and arms.
She was airlifted to McLane Children's Medical Center in Temple.
EMS said the girl will likely have internal injuries as well.
Witnesses said the girl ran out in front of the vehicle.
Killeen police are investigating the accident.
