FORT HOOD — Two soldiers from the same post had been missing for months until June 19 when the skeletal remains of Private Second Class Gregory Morales were found in a field in Killeen.
"The hope is gone. He was such a sweet kid. I do not know why this would happen," said Kimberly Wedel, the soldier's mother.
Morales disappeared in August of 2019.
Private First Class Vanessa Guillen went missing in April. Her family has spent every day praying and fighting to find her.
"I want my daughter back because she is my life, my everything," said Gloria Guillen, Vanessa's mother.
Friends and family of both soldier want answers.
"God forbid if my daughter appears dead, I will shut this base down," said Gloria.
According to CID investigators, foul play is suspected in the death of Morales. Authorities say it's also likely a factor in Vanessa's disappearance.
Her supporters have spent weeks rallying outside Fort Hood. On Tuesday night, word that another set of remains were found not far from base means they may be on step closer to finding out what happened.
