Two drivers were killed and a passenger is in critical condition after a head-on crash near Rogers Monday afternoon.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says around 2:10 p.m., Troopers responded to a crash on US 190, about 5 miles west of Rogers.

DPS says a Kia passenger car traveling eastbound drove onto the wrong side of the road and hit a Chevrolet SUV traveling westbound head-on.

The driver of the Kia, identified as 48-year-old Alicea Shafer of Rogers, was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Tuesday, police identified the driver of the Chevrolet as Patricia Nellums, 51, of Copperas Cove. Nellums also pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger of the Chevrolet was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

DPS says next of kin have been notified.

The investigation is still active. In the event of a wrong-way driver, DPS says drivers should move to the right and attempt to be noticed by honking your horn and flashing your lights.
