KILLLEEN, TX — Tuke Shoemaker, wife of the late Gen. Robert M. Shoemaker, has passed away. She was 95.
Killeen ISD describes Tuke as "one of the kindest, most generous friends of Killeen ISD and all of Central Texas."
Even after her husband's passing, Tuke continued to support Shoemaker High School and the entire school district.
Her birthday is celebrated each February on the Shoemaker HS campus with student group performances and a large cake.
She recently made a video message wishing luck to the Shoemaker Football team amid her absence due to COVID-19.
“There is no doubt that she will be remembered and forever loved by the students and staff of Shoemaker High School,” said Superintendent John Craft. “Our deepest condolences go out to all who knew her as she will be greatly missed.”
