KILLEEN, TX — A Killeen farm was targeted by thieves who stole a truck and thousands of dollars in tools last month.
“We went out on the morning of the 13th. I started picking and my husband came back across the field and said the truck’s gone,” said Jennifer Bannister.
The truck was parked on the back of the property.
“They actually backed it up closer to the barn to load our tools up and drove off with it,” said Bannister.
They filed a report with the Killeen Police Department.
A few days later, the story takes another twist.
“We get a call from our bank telling us that there was a woman trying to cash a check,” she said. Bannister says it was from a checkbook left in the stolen truck.
The check was written for $9 more than was in the account. The bank captured photos of the woman Bannister said held the check. A police report was filed for this incident, as well.
Bannister shared the images on social media. She received numerous responses on who the woman might be.
“I’ve gotten the same name from at least a handful of people adamant that it’s her and sending me pictures,” she said.
She says Killeen Police have not been responsive.
“I said I know who the woman is...I know where she is I have her address...I have her whereabouts. Call us back,” she said.
She says she wants whoever is responsible to be held accountable.
“I wish the police department would take it seriously. I don’t know why my tens of thousands of dollars doesn’t matter but it seems like maybe it should,” said Bannister.
We reached out to Killeen Police Department. While they confirmed the investigation, they were unable to provide further details before this article was posted.
