KILLEEN, TX — Texas A&M Central Texas is helping new transfer students by establishing the Central Texas Promise.
Beginning Fall 2020, new full-time transfer students at Texas A&M Central Texas with a household adjusted gross income of $40,000 or less will receive enough gift aid to pay tuition and mandatory fees.
On their website, they go on to say, "high quality does not have to equal high cost. To improve access to affordable higher education and to support students in their effort to complete a degree without student loans, A&M-Central Texas has established the Central Texas Promise."
To be eligible for the Central Texas Promise, new transfer students must follow these requirements:
- Degree-seeking Texas Resident
- Family adjusted gross income (AGI) of $40,000 or less
- Enroll in a minimum of 12 semester credit hours during initial fall/spring term and 6 semester credit hours in summer, if applicable.
- Submit FAFSA no later than January 15th each year and demonstrate need (waived for 2020-2021 academic year).
- Have transfer GPA of 2.5 or higher
For continuing eligibility students must follow these requirements:
- Degree-seeking Texas Resident
- Maintain a 2.5 overall and institutional GPA
- Family AGI of $40,000 or less
- Meet the university's Satisfactory Academic Progress
- Submit FAFSA no later than January 15th each year and demonstrate need (waived for 2020-2021 academic year).
- Maintain minimum term enrollment requirements and successfully complete 30 semester credit hours in previous academic year. Successfully completed credit requirements in an initial year for spring and summer transfer students are prorated as follows:
- Spring transfer – 18 semester credit hours
- Summer transfer – 6 semester credit hours
- Submit FAFSA no later than the priority deadline of January 15th each year
