TEMPLE, TX — The Texas Association of School Administrators has chosen the Temple ISD Board of Trustees as the 2020 Region 12 school board of the year.
The school board was chosen from 76 school districts in the region.
Over the past several years, Temple ISD has seen improvement throughout the district in student achievement. The school district has been able to improve their rating from the Texas Education Agency from a "C" rating to a "B" rating in 2019. For the first time since 2011, all campuses in the district met standard.
Superintendent Bobby Ott believes the diversity and innovation of the school board pushes the school district to achieve the success seen in recent years.
"This is a generative board. They have great ideas, they push for innovation. They expect that out of us. They hold the administration accountable to those things." said Bobby Ott, Temple ISD Superintendent.
Temple ISD is now in the running to be named one of five school boards chosen as a 2020 Texas Honor Board. Of those five, one of will be named Texas' Outstanding School Board.
