Temple family jumps out second floor to escape house fire

TEMPLE, TX — At 6:16 am, Friday morning Temple Fire and Rescue was dispatched to the report of a structure fire at 1303 E. Avenue E. Upon arrival, fire crews found a 3-story residential structure with heavy smoke and flames coming from the roof.

As crews began efforts to extinguish the flames, they found that all 7 occupants of the home had escaped by jumping from a second-floor window. All have been transported to the Emergency Room for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Temple Fire and Rescue responded with 9 firefighting units and 23 personnel. Also on the scene were multiple Temple PD, and Temple EMS Units. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation at this time.

Please avoid the area, as the roads remain blocked while fire crews remain on the scene.
