TEMPLE, TX — A Temple 18-year-old was arrested after police said he assaulted officers as they were attempting to detain him during a disturbance in an apartment.
According to the arrest affidavit, police were responding to a disturbance report on Feb. 26 when they entered an apartment to find a lot of screaming occupants and holes in the walls of the hallway.
Officers attempted to detain 18-year-old Jason Villanueva when he hit a girl who was in the apartment on the head.
The arrest affidavit said Villanueva then started to actively resist arrest and assaulted responding officers by kicking one in the head and headbutting two others.
He had to be carried down the stairs of the apartment complex by officers, all the while he was twisting his body and resisting arrest.
Villanueva had to be strapped to a gurney and placed in an ambulance for a medical assessment.
While strapped in, he spit several times at the officers. Eventually, an officer had to place a spit hood on him, the affidavit said.
After his evaluation, Villanueva was booked into the Bell County Jail on several charges including three counts of assault of a public servant, harassment of a public servant and injury to a child - intentional bodily injury. His bond totals to $125,000.
