Suspect in Fort Hood CID case dies of self-inflicted gunshot wound

KILLEEN, TX — A suspect in a Fort Hood Criminal Investigation Division case died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound as officers attempted to make contact with him early Wednesday morning.

The Killeen Police Department said officers, along with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals - Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, assisted investigators with the Fort Hood CID in one of their criminal cases.

Around 1:29 a.m., officers located the suspect in the 4700 block of East Rancier Avenue. KPD says as officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, he displayed a weapon and discharged it towards himself.

The suspect succumbed to his self-inflicted gunshot wound.

KPD says more information will be released as it becomes available.
