KILLEEN, TX — A woman has succumbed to her injuries after she was thrown off a balcony following a verbal altercation.

Police say around 1:12 p.m. on June 25, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Henderson for a 911 call about an aggravated assault.

When officers arrived, they found a woman, later identified as 50-year-old Nilsa Maria Arce, lying on the ground not breathing. Officers immediately started CPR until EMS arrived.

Arce was transported to Advent Health and subsequently transported to Baylor Scott & White in Temple in critical condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed the victim and suspect, identified as 35-year-old Raymond Antonio Rivera, were involved in a verbal altercation when Rivera grabbed Arce and threw her off the balcony.

Rivera had fled the scene prior to officers arrival but was located near W Sprott St. and N. College St.

He was taken into custody and transported to Killeen City Jail.

The case was presented to the Bell County Attorney's Office on June 26, and a complaint was returned charging Rivera with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke arraigned him and set his bond at $500,000. He is currently in the Bell County Jail.

On Saturday, June 27, Arce succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at 10:25 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Ivey at the hospital.

KPD says the case is continuing to be investigated and other charges are pending.
