TEMPLE, TX — St. Mary’s Catholic School in Temple is hosting a shoe fundraiser for children and adults in need living in developing countries. The shoes are used to feed, clothe and house their families in developing countries.

This is the first year that the school has collected shoes for Funds2Orgs.

St. Mary’s Catholic School will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used and new shoes collected. As Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes.

The money raised will benefit the tuition assisted students.

“We are excited about our shoe drive,” said Renee Morales, Director of Development. “We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate to us. By doing so, we raise money for longevity of the school, and we have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities.”

They have collected over 500 shoes so far, but are hoping to collect 2,000 more pairs. If they do, they will receive a total of $1,000.

The money is estimated by the weight of shoes, each pound is equivalent to 40 cents.

If you would like to donate gently used shoes, drop them off at St. Mary’s Catholic School Monday - Friday at normal school hours.
