BELTON, TX — According to the National Human Trafficking Hotline, Texas is ranked second in the nation for human trafficking.
The Bell County Sheriff's Department confirmed Bell County is directly in the heart of what is known as the “trafficking triangle” running between Dallas, Houston and San Antonio.
On Tuesday, the Bell County Sheriff's Department launched a new program to help fight human trafficking and other crimes in the area.
The Bell County Community Related Information Management Exchange System (C.R.I.ME.S.) allows people to report crime related information.
"And this is just another step in getting the community involved in a way that wasn't there before," said sheriff Eddy Lange.
From human trafficking, criminal behavior or suspicious activity, the program allows people to report crime related information.
