TEMPLE, TX — A second child at the Ralph Wilson Youth Club in Temple has tested positive for COVID-19.

The youth center posted to its Facebook saying staff was notified by the parent of a member of the Summer Term program that the child tested positive for the virus. The child was immediately located and placed under the supervision of the club's nurse until the parent arrived to pick up the child.

The youth club says staff proceeded to disinfect the areas that the child has visited.

Following a conference call with the Bell County Public Health District, the Ralph Wilson Youth Club has decided to close for a minimum of 24 hours. Health officials told the youth club it does not pose as a public health risk.

The youth club will be deep cleaned by a company that specializes in sanitation.

Staff members are also encouraging all parents to monitor their children for COVID-19 symptoms.

This is the second child in the Summer Term program to test positive for COVID-19. The center was notified on Sunday, June 7 that a child in the program had tested positive. It is unknown if the second child contracted the virus at the center or from the other child.
