TEMPLE, TX — A peace officer involved injuries or death report shows that Michael Dean did not carry, exhibit or use a deadly weapon when he was killed by a police officer in December.
According to Temple PD, around 8:15 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 28-year-old Michael Dean was shot and killed by an officer with the Temple Police Department.
The shooting happened at SE H K Dodgen Loop and Little River Road. The report said he was pulled over for a traffic stop when it happened, and he was evading arrest.
The shooting is now under investigation by the Texas Rangers. The report was released on Dec. 30.
The Rangers will be leading the investigation, with assistance from Temple Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division and the Bell County District Attorney's Office.
The Temple Police Department released the following statement:
“The form filed by Temple PD with the AG’s office is required within 30 days of the reported incident. At this time, the Department has only limited information from sources that do not have first-hand knowledge of the facts and that limited information was used to complete this form.
This case is still under investigation by the Texas Rangers, and the form may be revised by the Department at a later date as more facts become available.”
