TEMPLE, TX — A protest in honor of Michael Dean will take place in Temple on Friday, according to a post by Dean's brother.

He's asked the community to come out for a peaceful demonstration.

Domonte Dean said the goal of the protest is to "come together on a unified front and demand change...not to cause further conflict among the masses."

The protest is set for Friday at 6:30 p.m. at 2 North Main Street in Temple.

Michael Dean, a father of two from Temple, was killed during a traffic stop on December 2, 2019.

Temple Police Officer Carmen DeCruz was arrested on Feb. 10th for second-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of Dean.

He resigned from the Temple Police Department on February 19.

Following his indictment, DeCruz had his bond reduced to $80,000.

DeCruz was released from jail in March after posting bond.

Dean's brother says "anyone attempting to incite the people, indirectly, towards violence....you’re part of the problem."

"I don’t have the answers on how to move forward," Domonte said. "I wish I did, but I do know my brother wouldn’t want anybody harmed in his name."
