Police search for hit-and-run suspect after 27-year-old man dies from injuries

KILLEEN, TX — A 27-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle while walking on Twin Creek Drive in Killeen on Friday. Police are searching for the suspect who fled the scene.

Police responded to the area of Twin Creek and Roy J. Smith at 11:56 p.m. Friday night after receiving a call that a pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man lying in the road. He was immediately transported to Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in critical condition, and later airlifted to Baylor Scott & White in Temple.

On Saturday, Nov. 9, police announced the victim, 27-year-old Christopher Rivers, Jr., died from his injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a green Chevy or GMC style truck was traveling northbound in the outside lane on Twin Creek Drive when the vehicle struck Rivers, Jr.

The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Unit is still investigating the fatality, and information will be released as it becomes available.
