HARKER HEIGHTS, TX — A man was arrested and charged after police said he was shooting at a victim on Friday.
Police said on Friday at approximately 9:25 p.m., officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Travis Lane and Belline Lane.
An off-duty officer was in the area and saw a suspect chasing and shooting at a victim. The off-duty officer was able to disarm the suspect and detain him. He was later identified as 39-year-old Ronnell Brown.
The victim was shot twice. She was transported to the hospital where she was taken into surgery.
Brown was arrested and transported to the Harker Heights Police Department where the charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, family violence and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon were accepted by a Justice of the Peace.
An investigation revealed that Brown and the victim were dating and got into a verbal altercation outside their home. When the victim started to call 911, Brown threatened her and retrieved a hand gun and chased her down the street.
The victim is continuing to recover in the hospital.
