HARKER HEIGHTS, TX — The Killeen Police Department said that a student said a stranger offered her a ride while walking to school.

They said a student at Skipcha Elementary reported someone in a black, 4-door car offered her a ride while walking to school on Wrought Iron Drive in Harker Heights.

After learning about the incident, the principal immediately notified Killeen ISD police. They are investigating the incident and have alerted Harker Heights Police.

The student reported that a woman, approximately in her 30s with wavy shoulder-length hair, asked if she wanted a ride. The child refused the ride and the car pulled away.

Parents may also notice an increased police presence around the campus due to the situation.

"We applaud the student for their quick action in reporting the incident. Parents can help us keep students safe by discussing safety procedures and reminding children always to report to school officials or police immediately when there is any type of safety threat. The safety and security of our students and staff is our number one priority," Killeen ISD said
