BELTON, TX — A petition is growing to move UMHB classes online.
The petition has over 1,000 signatures within 24 hours of posting.
"There are confirmed cases outside of Bell county. Being that we are on spring break and some of us may live in those counties. It is unknown if members of our community have come in contact with the virus in those counties. For our safety and the safety of our staff and faculty. It is important that we limit our contact," the petition said.
UMHB announced on Thursday that they will not extend spring break.
"We have been in contact with and will continue to follow the advice of public health officials to protect the health and well-being of our community. (Please see the Centers for Disease Control website at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/index.html for further information.) We will immediately inform the campus community if we become aware of any confirmed cases of coronavirus at UMHB," they said on their site.
