KILLEEN, TX — No matter if you are getting to your Thanksgiving destination by plane, train or automobile, expect delays.

Killeen Fort-Hood Regional Airport is bustling with activity this week as hundreds are expected to pass through for Thanksgiving travel.

"Actually this is the first time I flew out this airport," said Trulina McRinna, who is flying to visit her daughter in Alabama.

She decided to leave early in the week to get a cheaper flight and to avoid the Thanksgiving rush.

"I hate the crowds. I hate the headaches. You don't know how many people are going to be in the airport so you have to anticipate that," said McRinna

McRinna said coming here was a no-brainer, because driving to larger airports, like the one in Dallas, would potentially be a travel nightmare.

"I'd rather pay the extra money to fly out than to get stuck in traffic," she said.

Airport officials say they anticipate many flights departing from killeen-fort hood regional airport will be at capacity...

So if you’re planing on flying, remember to always check the status of your flight before coming to the airport, pack your patience and remember to leave restricted items at home to reduce wait times at security checkpoints
