Neighbors react to the triple homicide in Killeen

KILLEEN, TX — Killeen police found three people dead in the 300 block of Blair Street. The incident has neighbors, no strangers to crime, more worried than usual.

Neighbors say this street, unusually short, stays quiet, but what happened Saturday had many of them locking their doors and pulling down their shades.

Why?

Word on the street suggests the murder scene looked especially gruesome, even for this town.

“What happened? They were saying all different kinds of ways,” Rosie Contreras, a Killeen resident said.

Police don’t know who murdered three people a few blocks west of downtown Killeen. Neighbors won’t say much about what happened but say it happened in a rather uncommon way.

“The one lady said it was an execution-style,” Contreras recalled. “And the other said it was a gunshot.”

Few say they heard any gunfire, which led them to wonder if the killers used a silencer.

Those living close by told us shootings do happen here, but nothing like this.

“We asked her, like “do you know what's going on?” she’s like “no, we didn’t even hear anything,” Contreras described her conversation with her sister-in-law, who lives up the street from the scene.

Neighbors felt it’s getting more dangerous by the day for their families.

“Very, very afraid, because you never know what's going to happen, you know, I take care of my son very good, my grandson,” Contreras said. “So it’s very dangerous around here, like you never know what's going to happen.”

Killeen detectives want anyone who knows anything about the killings of three people here, to call The Bell County Crime Stoppers, where an anonymous tip can earn a potential award of up to $1,000.
